Rebecca Beldon Chaula

Ms. Rebecca Beldon Chaula holds a Masters of Science in Data Science and BSc. in Computer Science and Statistics from the University of Dar es Salaam. She currently serves as an Senior ICT officer specializing in Data Science at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, within the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology. Apart from working as Assistant Data Manager at the Dar es Salaam Urban Cohort Study, she has been working on projects aimed at improving healthcare in Tanzania in the area of digital health systems. She has also worked on data processing and management in health systems, including big data analytics and GIS. She has strong skills using machine learning techniques and software such as Python, R and SPSS.  In addition to her technical expertise, Ms. Chaula has a strong background in capacity building, regularly delivering professional training on health data analytics, data processing and data management. She has a strong professional network built from years of interaction with professionals from various sectors through meetings and technical working groups in the health sector. Her primary learning goal is to harness the power of big data to drive the application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in healthcare.
